If your property has been disconnected from the electricity supply for more than six months, the electrical wiring must be inspected and certified by a registered electrical contractor. Once the inspection is complete, a Certificate of Completion — commonly referred to as a “wiring certificate” and recognised by the Electro-Technical Council of Ireland (ETCI) — must be submitted electronically by the contractor to their approved regulatory body.
Only once this process is complete can your electricity supplier arrange for reconnection. In some cases, a current ETCI Periodic Inspection Report may also be required. This report must confirm that the electrical installation meets safety standards and that no remedial work is necessary.
